Coming up on Irreverent Radio for Wednesday, March 31st… we dig deep to discover just what the hell America’s problem is. Between the entitlement complexes, the self-serving, the lying, the greed, the laziness, the irresponsibility… we’re just sick of it all. So we ask, very simply: Dear America: What the hell is your problem?! (If you can answer that question, please call us during the show — we’d really like to know!) Plus the usual news about your favorite idiot celebrities, and probably an abundance of utter randomness. You know us, you love us — we are the one and only… Irreverent Radio!
Sorry it took us so long to get the notes up; it’s been busy over here at the worldwide broadcast headquarters of Irreverent Radio. Here’s what you missed for the March 24th show:
- 14 states (and count) are now suing the federal government over recent attempts at healthcare reform. (For those playing the home game, they’re suing because the new legislation is, among other things, highly unconstitutional).
- What do Puck from “The Real World”, Suge Knight, and the Learjet corporation have in common? LEGAL PROBLEMS. (OK, so the Learjet one is a bit unusual, but is anybody shocked about the other two? Didn’t think so.)
- Parents in Fulton County, GA are fighting the school board’s decision to remove the music program from the schools. As if kids really needed any more reasons to hate school — you’re going to take away one of the few things that makes it enjoyable for them? Sheesh.
- More HFCS (high-fructose corn syrup) news: researchers at Princeton have discovered that HFCS has a direct link to obesity and causes more than twice the weight gain than half the amount of sugar. And people say bad things about diet soda?!
Then, of course, we tackled our main topic for the week: sexual repression in American society. We did some research during the show and discovered that in countries known for their sexual freedom (Netherlands and Japan were two notable examples) the number of sex-related crimes was much lower per capita than in the United States. We’re convinced that the apparent fear of all-that-is-sex in this country has resulted in people acting out and committing rape and pedophilia rather than feeling okay with exploring their sexuality like a normal human being. We also discussed nudist colonies and the impact they have on children growing up in them.
Finally: Our very own Rick D is doing a fundraiser for diabetes research called “Ride to Live”, and friend of the show Liz A is doing a fundraiser for breast cancer research (Susan G. Komen’s “Race for the Cure”). These are both important causes that we support here at Irreverent Radio, and if you have a few dollars to spare for one or both of these causes, we would appreciate it! (Besides, everyone loves a good tax write-off, right?)

We had an absolutely great show today (despite GirlShawn being completely whacked out on a sugar buzz from Peeps-flavored Italian Ice from Rita’s…)! We even had special guests Trevor and Chrysta in studio with us for some extra fun. If you weren’t able to listen live, here’s what you missed:
- Recently deceased actress Brittany Murphy (apparently aka: Lola Manilow Murphy) was apparently getting between 200-400 pills a month from her local pharmacist for several years prior to her death. The pharmacy apparently cut her off 4 months before her death, but it seems that was a bit too late, eh? Sad.
- Say it isn’t so… the infamous “Octomom” might be losing her $4000/month home in California due to an inability to make the mortgage payments. We’d like to feel sorry for you, lady… really… but we just don’t.
- A father in Kentucky who came home and got drunk and high decided to put his 5-week old baby son in the oven. Don’t worry, the baby’s fine (the oven never actually got turned on), but I’m pretty sure we can’t say the same for the father, who is obviously facing felony charges over this.
- A new bill being considered in the Georgia House would require random drug testing for recipients of unemployment benefits. Slippery slope there… it’d be nice to know that tax dollars weren’t paying for someone’s drug habit, but don’t we all have a right to privacy, too?
- Apparently it’s now a federal crime to contact your Congressman in an attempt to persuade them to change their mind about their position on a piece of proposed legislation. Somebody needs to pass these people a quick memo: YOU WORK FOR US, YOU MORONS. Maybe if this particular Congressman didn’t want to be contacted by his constituents, he should find another job…
- We’ve reached the 25 year anniversary of the first dot-com address (Symbolics.com — check their website; they’re apparently very proud of this fact!).
- A church in Fayetteville, GA has decided to sell their church building and use the money they get from the sale to help people in their community. These people deserve some serious kudos for the good example they’ve set. Bravo!
And of course, we featured part 2 of our discussion of the healthcare reform debate/crisis. We gave kudos to Idaho for sending a message to the federal government that we, the citizens, won’t just stand by and accept an inadequate national healthcare plan. We also discussed some ideas for what would make a truly good national healthcare plan: who should benefit, who should pay, whether or not there should be limits, etc.
Finally, a big announcement for the show: we’re moving to Wednesdays! That’s right: from now on, catch Irreverent Radio live on Wednesday nights from 10pm to midnight Eastern! As always, though, if you miss the show, you can listen right here, or even download the show to listen on your favorite portable audio player. See you next Wednesday, suckas!

We started discussing our nation’s healthcare crisis on last week’s show, but we have so much more to talk about… who should benefit from a national healthcare plan, if one is put in place? Who should pay for it? Should there be limitations or exclusions? And, most importantly, just what is actually in this healthcare bill that Obama and Pelosi are trying to shove down our throats? Let’s talk about it! Give us a call, send us a text, or e-mail us… we’d love to get you involved in the conversation.
Also: this is our last Saturday show. Starting next week, we’ll be live on Wednesdays at 10pm Eastern, immediately following the “Bad Side…LIVE!” show with Tyler Hollywood on TalkRadioX. Be sure to check out Tyler’s show at 9pm Eastern, then keep it locked for the Irreverent Radio you know and love!
We had such a great show today… here are the highlights…
- We’re big fans of sushi here on the show, but perhaps we’ll be a little bit more cautious next time we go out for some delicious raw fish: a popular sushi joint (in Los Angeles, thankfully, and not near us) was busted by the feds for serving whale meat. And horse. Eww.
- Apparently yet another al Qaeda operative was discovered to have been working in, of all places, US nuclear plants. For some reason, the Bloodhound Gang’s song “Asleep At the Wheel” comes to mind…
- Sean Penn wants you to die of “screaming rectal cancer“. Really, Sean? We’d hate to tell you what we really think of you…
- You (yes, you!) have been nominated for a Nobel Prize this year. Really! (Now wouldn’t that look great on your mantle next to that terrible picture of you in that Christmas sweater from Grandma?)
- We discussed a great deal regarding our nation’s ongoing healthcare debate. We aired the audio from this video which does a pretty good job of boiling down the debate into simple terms. We also got onto a bit of a tangent about Obama and his campaign promises — and whether or not he’s been keeping them (hint: one of them was transparency, and he and his administration have been anything but transparent while putting together their ideas for a new healthcare plan).
- Friend of the show Trevor C called in with updates from the wonderful world of Disney. (You bastards in Florida were hogging all the nice weather today…)
- Another friend of the show, Mike R, called in to play “Fact or Utter Bullshit”, winning our infamous trivia contest for a second time and getting himself a nice little prize — a $25 Amazon gift card. We really need to start making these prizes harder to win.
Also, we announced that we’ll be moving Irreverent Radio to a new day and time that will be announced shortly. Stay tuned to this space for the details (or our Facebook, or our Twitter page…)
And finally, we managed to archive some audio for once (hooray!) The quality is still not what we’d like it to be, so we’re going to continue experimenting until we get it right, but at least you can hear what you missed. Thanks for listening!

If you haven’t checked out the show yet, this is one you won’t want to miss… Shawn and Shawn (and Rick) take on one of the most hot-button topics in existence right now: universal healthcare. We’ll be sharing some of our own stories and experiences regarding our current healthcare system, throwing out our opinions on how to build a better system, and of course taking your calls. Plus: did you know you might be getting a Nobel Prize this year?… and another installment of “Fact or Utter Bullshit” with your chance to win a fabulous prize from our vault! Don’t miss it… this Saturday, March 13, at 3pm Eastern.
The kind folks at TalkRadioX have opened up our existing time slot (Saturdays, 3-5pm Eastern) in their schedule, so we have a new home now! After doing sound checks tonight both by myself and with TRX’s program director, I’m confident that things will sound good when we go live at 3.*
So we invite you to join us for what will hopefully be a much better sounding (and therefore much more fun for you, the listener!) Irreverent Radio. And by all means, give us a call too (661-349-TALK) and tell us what’s on your mind. We’ll be doing another prize giveaway, although we have yet to look into the prize vault to see what it will be… but we’ll be picking a random caller to play our “Fact or Utter Bullshit” contest to win a fabulous prize. You won’t wanna miss out on 2 hours of uncensored, unfiltered hilarity. So don’t! Tune in!
*Provided, of course, that our Internet connection from Charter doesn’t decide to suck big hairy donkey balls.
